The Ogun State Security Network Agency and Amotekun Corps in its continued efforts and determination to rid the State of all forms of crime and criminalities has recorded some major successes.

In an exclusive chat with securityreporters magazine, the Corps Commandant, Ogun State, CP David A. Akinremi psc(+)rtd. highlighted some remarkable arrests the outfit made within the short time of operation.

Akinremi revealed that on 3rd September, 2021, operatives of the Amotekun Corps acting on actionable intelligence and in collaboration with men of the vigilante, arrested two suspects JOSHUA OLAYINKA 25 YEARS AND ADEWALE SAMSON 24 YEARS FOR BURGLARY, for theft and cultism.

According to him, the duo were involved in breaking into the house of one Owoosho Joseph in Balogun Iju area of Ota where they admitted stealing a generating set, laptop, plasma television set, Home theater and a Hitech GSM handset. 

“Joseph Olayinka (first suspect) admitted being a member of ALORA SEALORD CULT and claimed that he was initiated on 19th May, 2021 at about 2100hours at the premises of a primary school in Atan. 

“On further interrogation he mentioned six (6) other members of his cult group with whom he had terrorized the residents of Atan in recent times. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend his accomplices in this criminal act. So far, only the stolen home theater has been recovered by our operatives while the criminal receivers of the other stolen items are being trailed for possible arrest and further recovery.

Akinremi spoke further, “LAWAL RASHEED ‘M’ 25 YEARS, another suspect was arrested on 29th September, 2021. He resides in Ijemo area of Abeokuta. He has been involved in different cult related disturbances in Ijemo area of Abeokuta. 

“The suspect confessed to several cult clashes including robberies in Ijemo and other areas in Abeokuta metropolis and gave the names of other members of his seven (7) man Aye Cult group. 

“Items recovered from the suspect includes some quantities of weeds, suspected to be Indian Hemp, human hair and knife. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend other members of his criminal gang.

“Four notorious suspectss who specialized in stealing tricycle and involved in money making rituals were intercepted by my men attached to Ijebu Ode Local Government Area while on patrol on 30th September, 2021.

“Michael Charles, Michael James, Nweze Sunday and Bakare Nureni were intercepted on a tricycle along Moborode Street, Ijebu-Ode having been closely monitored. 

“In the course of their interrogation, it was revealed that the trio of James Michael Emeka, Michael Charles and Nweze Sunday who are all friends and resides in Ketu area of Lagos State and tricycle operators conspired to dispose off the tricycle belonging to one Eyimofe Christopher Ogaga who gave out same to Michael Charles to ride for him. 

“The proceeds from the sale of the tricycle was specifically meant to enable the three (3) suspects pay a herbalist whom they earlier consulted and paid the sum of Twenty Five #25,000.00 deposit to prepare money making ritual for them. 

“One Bakare Nureni ‘M’, aged 47 years residing in Ijebu-Ode was an intermediary between the three suspects from Ketu and would be buyer of the tricycle on the one hand as well as between the three (3) suspects and the money making herbalist who is presently at large. Effort is ongoing towards apprehending the herbalist while all the suspects are being prepared for prosecution.

The Amotekun Corps Commandant in the State, assured law abiding residents of the corps’ readiness to “work tirelessly and in collaboration with other security services and of course with the support of our people to ensure that our State is rid of all forms of crime and criminality. 

“We enjoin the general public to be security conscious particularly during these ‘ember’ months. On our part we are prepared to provide water tight security for our people during this period and beyond,” Akinremi promised.
