The Inspector General of Police, Usman Baba is yet to get report of the Nigerian Police Force Special Investigation Panel (SPI), probing the alleged indictment of DCP Abba Kyari.
The Police made this known in a statement signed by the force public relations officer, CP Frank Mba, on its verified Facebook page on Tuesday.
According to Mba, the probe into the alleged indictment is still ongoing.
He said, “Members of the public are enjoined to note that the panel has not submitted its report to the Inspector General of Police, as being wrongly reported in some news outlet and online platforms.
“The Force hereby reassures the public that the outcome of investigations by the probe panel would be communicated accordingly upon conclusion of the investigations.”
Securityreporters.com had reported that the IGP Alkali Baba, following an indictment by the US Federal Bureau of Investigation on Abba Kyari mandated a four-man panel to probe allegations of Kyari’s alleged involvement in a $1.1m Internet fraud.
The fraud was allegedly perpetrated by Abbas Ramon Olorunwa, popularly known as Ray Hushpuppi.
Kyari following the indictment was suspended as the panel began its probe two weeks ago
