… For Attempt To Kill Mother Of Four For Money Ritual
By Frank Oshanugor
Two Non-Governmental Organizations (NGO) namely the International Human Rights Commission, Geneva Switzerland and Basic Right Advancement Advocates Initiative have called on Nigeria’s Inspector General of Police (IGP) Usman Baba Alkali to quickly intervene in the case of a mother of four children Ms Victoria Nzube Mbachu who along with her children narrowly escaped becoming victims of money ritual group.
The syndicate is led by one Oluwafemi Salako, who has been arrested and currently detained at the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID), Alagbon Close, Lagos.
In a petition dated 13th April, 2022 to the police boss and signed by the President of International Human Rights Commission, Barrister (Prince) Sunny Ebhojiaye (a copy of which was made available to SECURITY REPORTERS), they drew the attention of the IGP to the heinous activities of some criminal elements who cashed in, on Mbachu’s orphaned status and illiteracy to defraud her of her landed inheritance and attempted to ultimately use her and her children for money ritual.
According to the petition, one Mr. Bonaventure Ezekwenna had contacted the human rights groups with information that Ms Mbachu, a mother of four children from Nnobi in Anambra State who became an orphan at the age of seven was undergoing serious threat to her life. She was said to have inherited a lot of land in her village of Umuona Ebenesi , Nnobi town.
Some of her relatives were alleged to have capitalised on her orphaned nature and inheritance from her late parents to mercilessly abuse, exploit and abandon her by selling off her land instead of giving her good education. She only managed to get to Primary five but could not understand what ought to be her rights. She was highly gullible.
She was reportedIy raped at the age of thirteen by a particular relative who got her impregnated at the age of fourteen and became a mother at the tender age of fifteen with no one to care for her and the baby.  Ultimately, she turned a street beggar.
The petitioners alleged that sometime in 2018 at the age of eighteen one Oluwafemi Salako; a bricklayer residing at Nnobi presented himself as a Nigerian of Yoruba extraction asking her to be his girlfriend.  Salako subsequently moved into her apartment.  After some period of habitation and having understood that Mbachu was bequeathed some landed property by her parents, Salako came up with a game plan, first by taking her to Access Bank where he helped to open a savings account.
Unknown to Mbachu that Salako is a con man largely due to illiteracy on her part, the so called bricklayer obtained all the details relating to the account including ATM Pin code.  With the information, Salako teamed up with some suspected internet fraudsters locally known as Yahoo+.  One of them is known as Chijioke Peter Okaa (alias Chief Priest).
Salako and Chijioke Okaa teamed up to use Mbachu’s bank account and telephone number for Yahoo Yahoo operations even as Salako arranged with Okaa to defraud her of the land and property on the land she inherited from her parents.  Femi Salako reportedIy arranged for sale of Victoria Nzube Mbachu’s land, deposited the money into the account but because he has all the account information, he kept withdrawing the money without her consent.
When she found out and asked him why he did so, Salako would resort to assaulting her mercilessly with horse whip, belt, plywood and other dangerous weapons.  In a fit of anger, Salako would threaten to kill her and use her for money rituals.
This was said to have happened regularly until Salako decided one day to traffic her and her four children to Lagos and Ogun States in readiness to kill her for money ritual.  While in Ogun State, it was found out that police was looking for them and Salako suggested that they should run away to Cotonou, Benin Republic but Mbachu allegedly refused.
By divine arrangement, she was rescued when police from the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) Panti arrested Salako who confessed his Yahoo+ activities with Chief Priest Peter Chijioke Okaa and others.  He reportedIy promised police of his 100% cooperation to arrest members of his syndicate, whose activities extended to killing of law enforcement agents and military officers in Anambra State.
It was reliably gathered that Femi Salako whose case was transferred to Federal Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) Alagbon Close has been charged to court but members of his  syndicate are still at large.
These include Peter Chijioke Okaa, Michael Adeomu, Michael Oluwaseun Sedo and others who have not been investigated in their roles in defrauding and plot to kill Ms Mbachu and her four children for ritual.
The NGOs also want the IGP to investigate to know how  Gounou Claude Aloukou of Avrankou Republic of Benin got name of Oluwafemi Salako of Nigeria, got NIN identification card, got Nigeria Drivers License, opened bank account in Nigeria.  The police at SCID Panti and FCID Alagbon Close are yet to unravel this.
The petitioners also want the police boss to look into what they called “incompetence and gross corruption of officers at FCID Annex, Alagbon Close.”. They specifically accused one Investigating Police Officer Sam Tablajojo Iyucunie who reportedly collected money to travel to Anambra State to arrest Okaa but failed to do so, with excuse that the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Nnobi Police

is a close friend to one of the suspects; Okaa.
Some officers at the Legal Unit of FCID were said to be demanding N200,000 in other to prefer proper charges against Oluwafemi Salako whose real name has been discovered to be Gounou Claude Aloukou.
The NGOs have therefore pleaded with the Inspector General of Police to diligently look into the matter with a view to bringing the suspects and their police collaborators to hook.
