The two ‘one chance’ armed robbers, Jamiu Olalekan and Oni Adeola arrested by the Lagos State Transport Management agency and handed over to the police have been arraigned.
The Lagos State Police Command Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundenyin made the revelation on Saturday via his X handle.
He wrote: “Following conclusion of investigations, the suspects, Jamiu Olalekan aged 31 and Oni Adeola aged 27, have been arraigned while their operational vehicle remains impounded.
“The suspects were nabbed earlier by operatives of the Lagos State Transport Management agency. A press statement had afterwards been issued by the Director, Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department of LASTMA Mr. Adebayo Taofiq”.
Hundenyin confirmed that they were arrested along with their operational vehicle painted ‘T4’ commercial bus (APP 406 YE) at the U-turn area of Abule-Egba.
He explained further that immediately they were arrested, one of them escaped with a P.O.S machine before the arrival of policemen.
Preliminary investigations he disclosed, revealed that they were notorious ‘one-chance’ armed robbers terrorising the entire Abule-Egba and its environs, adding that investigations further revealed that they were being chased by members of the public after they noticed that a man was pushed down from their vehicle after robbing him of his valuables.
“They drove recklessly in order to evade arrest before they were eventually caught by LASTMA officials controlling and managing traffic around the Abule-Egba axis. The two suspects were later handed over to the policemen from Ile-Epo Police Division for further investigation,” he said.
