The Lagos State Government has been accused of looking the other way over Bamise’s death.

The lead counsel for the family of the slain BRT passenger, 22-year-old Bamishe Ayanwola, Ayo Ademiluyi, made the accusation in a statement released on Thursday, March 10.

Ademiluyi, said that Governor Babajide Sanwo-olu had not deemed it fit to pay a condolence visit to the family of Bamise till now but was rather, dancing on the deceased’s corpse.

“On March 8, 2022, the day after discovering the corpse of Ayanwola, while the world was still in shock about her death, Governor Sanwo-Olu was seen dancing at Tafawa Balewa Square in Lagos.

“Despite the death of a young Nigerian woman and the revelation of her unfortunate death on the eve of the International Women’s Day, the wife of the governor, Mrs Sanwo-olu was still eager to celebrate the International Women’s Day.

“Despite protest by a young lady at the occasion in a viral video, it was still celebration galore,” he said,

Ademiluyi also stated that the Lagos Bus Services Limited, franchise operator of the Bus Rapid Transport also has a case to answer.

He noted that the family had experienced the worst treatment at the corporate headquarters of the LBSL, stating that the family were not attended to and were intimidated by policemen when they came to lodge their search complaint about Bamise.

“Why was the particular bus in question kept from public view and plying the roads?

“Why was it that it was after the discovery of Ayanwola’s corpse that the operations of BRT were shut down in Lagos? Is there priority of profits above lives of Lagosians?” Ademiluyi asked.

The lawyer subsequently called for an arrest of the LBSL Managing Director within 24 hours.

Ademiluyi also accused the police of unprofessionalism in the case of late Bamishe.

He maintained that nothing had changed about the conduct of the police since EndSARS, looking at the ordeal that the family of late Bamishe faced in their hands.

“We will continue to demand justice,” he said.
