The Kogi State government has claimed that recent attack on a correctional facility in Kabba in the state, was aimed at rubbishing Governor Yahaya Bello’s security architecture.
Commissioner for Information,Mr Kingsley Fanwo, who stated this in Lagos, said politicians sponsored the attack to discredit Governor Yahaya Bello’s administration.
The commissioner noted that the government is investigating the issue to get those sabotaging the state.
Mr Kingsley also noted that the report of its findings would be made public.
Fanwo stated that the attack on the Custodial Centre was a coordinated one by saboteurs.
He said the government would do all in its capacity to rejig the security network of the state.
“We are going to do more in fortifying our state, especially government facilities, and bring all those sabotaging our state to justice,” he said.
“We had intelligence as regards the planned attack on the custodial centre, which we communicated to the appropriate quarters.
“We were assured that 20 military men would be stationed at the centre to counter any aggression, he said.
“People should not also undermine the plain fact that there are high-profile criminal inmates in the custodial centre and their members would do everything possible to free them.
“That is why we want the Federal Government to do more to protect the correctional facilities.”
