The newly deployed Commissioner of Police to Imo Police command, Abutu Yaro has officially taken over on Thursday from CP Nasiru Mohammed who has been redeployed to Ports Authority (PAP) Western Command, Lagos.
The CP pledged to work assiduously to ensure a peaceful Imo State, as well as promote robust working relationship between Police and members of the Public.
Yaro gave the pledge while addressing journalists in his office immediately after taking over and promised to ensure visibility policing across the state, such that the Police will occupy the public space and by so doing prevent crime and criminality.
He further promised that the command under his watch will focus on intelligence led policing and promised to instill confidence in the populace through community and stakeholders engagement. This he said will result to improved public trust and confidence in the police.
Yaro added that the Command under his watch will embark on strategic placement of personnels to ensure that round pegs are placed in round holes, which is aimed at providing effective Police service delivery.
He promised to continue to partner with all security agencies and other critical stakeholders in the state to ensure that Imo is peaceful for business to thrive.
The CP finally assured members of the public that Imo was absolutely safe, as normalcy has been restored, unlike what was being circulated on various media platforms.
The new CP later addressed senior officers of the command where he gave strategic and operational directives.
Commissioner Abutu Yaro who hails from Kogi State enlisted in the Nigeria Police Force as a cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police in 1988. He is a graduate of Public administration from Ahmadu University, Zaria.
He has served the Force in various capacities at different Commands and Formations and he is a fellow of the prestigious National Defense College, known for his operational dexterity and administrative acumen.
Yaro is the immediate past Commissioner of Police of Zamfara State, whose exploits resulted in the arrest of so many bandits and recovery of hundreds of arms and ammunitions.
The new Commissioner of Police assumed duty as the thirty-eighth (38th) Commissioner of Police Imo State Command.
