A non-governmental organisation in Ekiti state, Kayode Adamolekun Foundation, has cried out over the deplorable state of major roads in the state describing them as death traps.

In a letter, signed by Kayode Adamolekun, was titled, ‘There are death traps on our roads that are in dire need of your attention’, the foundation called the attention of the Governor to the deplorable state of roads in Ekiti, and asked for immediate attention and repair.

The letter partly read, “We are using this medium to call your attention to the deplorable state of major roads in Ekiti state.

“To mention a few, the road linking Osun state to Ekiti state, the road from Akure to Ado-Ekiti, and the roads that connect to ikole Ekiti, are nothing but death traps.

“These roads are currently not motorable, making it difficult for travelers to commute safely and in good time.

“Journeys are being completed within a longer time frame, at a pace that puts them at the mercy of kidnappers, should they choose to strike.

“We believe that putting the lives of citizens at risk is not a core value of this administration.

“A random visit should be paid to these roads, In order to feel the agony of the people, and to see the dangers that they face while plying these routes.

“If the repair of these roads is not within your jurisdiction, we are trusting in your good heart and wise judgment, to speedily call the attention of the Federal government and relevant authorities to these dire issues and fast track a solution that brings peace and safety to the people.

“In the meantime, an urgent measure is required on these roads, to proffer solutions in the interim.”
