Operatives of the Zamfara State Police Command have successfully rescued no fewer than 39 kidnapped
victims in various operations across the state and also arrested ten suspects including members of the outlawed (Yansaki) group.
The State Police Commissioner; Ayuba Elkana told journalists in a press briefing on Monday that the kidnapped victims were rescued through his Command’s determination to rid Zamfara State of all forms of criminal activities, describing the rescue of the 39 abductees as “unconditional rescue of the victims.’
Their commitment also led to the recovery of locally fabricated guns, one (1) stolen Honda Vehicle 2012 model and four (4) motorcycles and other exhibits during various Police operations across the state.
According to the police boss, the rescued abductees are natives of Bungudu and Maru Local Government Areas. They were reportedly rescued during clearance operations at Dabar Magaji near Kadanya forest.
The 39 kidnapped victims, were said to have been abducted in March and early April, 2022 at various villages and locations in Bungudu and Maru LGAs. The rescued victims include 8 male, 15 female including nursing mothers and 16 children.
The achievement was as a result of the ongoing clearance operation by the Joint Police and Military at Dabar Magaji camp located at Kadanya forest, stretching between Kaura Namoda and Maradun LGAs.
The victims according to the police boss have been medically treated by the joint Police and State Government Medical teams and later debriefed by the Police detectives and will be handed over to the officials of the two (2) LGAs for reuniting the victims with their families
