Presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress APC, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has named a former Governor of Borno state, Senator Kashim Shettima as his running mate.
Tinubu’s action followed the withdrawal of his running mate, Ibrahim Kabir Masari from the race.
The APC candidate announced the choice of Shettima on Sunday in Daura, Katsina state shortly after paying a Sallah homage on President Muhammadu Buhari.
Senator Shettima is former Governor of Borno State and a close associate of Tinubu who has been a staunch supporter and campaigner for the choice of Tinubu as the next President of Nigeria, said Bayo Onanuga, Director, Media and Communication Tinubu Campaign Organization.
“He toured many states with Tinubu since December 2021 where he addressed party delegates and mobilized support for the former Governor of Lagos State”, he added.
Earlier, Alhaji Ibrahim Masari resigned as the running-mate to Ahmed Bola Tinubu in the forthcoming 2023 presidential election.
Honorable James Faleke, Interim National Coordinator of Bola Tinubu Campaign Organization, TCO, made the disclosure.
Honorable James Faleke in statement signed by Interim National Coordinator of Bola Tinubu Campaign Organization, opined that TCO has been briefed of Masari’s withdrawal, noting that the decision is an opportunity for Tinubu to take decision that will further enhance the chances of their great party in the 2023 elections.
