Police Operatives in Ebonyi State have arrested six suspected members of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) while five locally made pistols with 12 live ammunitions were recovered from them.
Police sources said they were arrested on Monday when some men believed to belong IPOB were trying to disrupt people’s free movement while enforcing Sit-At-Home order proclaimed by them.
Speaking with SECURITY REPORTERS.com, the Ebonyi State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Loveth Odah on Tuesday confirmed the arrest.
It would be recalled that IPoB declared 31st May as Biafra Day and urged all in the South-East Geo-Political Zone to sit at home.
From SECURITY REPORTERS.com investigation, the order was largely obeyed in the five South East states as many people did not want to put their lives at risk of being attacked by IPoB militants who in recent had dared security forces in the most violent manner
