The Chairman Senate Committee on Local Content and the lawmaker representing Oyo Central Senatorial District, Senator Teslim Folarin, extols the extraordinary and committed leadership of His Majesty, Oba (Dr.) Oladunni Oyewumi Ajagungbade III to the people during his 48 years reign as Soun of Ogbomoso.

Folarin said, “The highly revered monarch will be long remembered for his towering role and dedication to improving the lives and aspirations of the people of Ogbomoso and Oyo State at large.

“During the late Soun’s almost five decades reign, Ogbomoso produced first democratically elected deputy governor and governor of Oyo State. His reign also witnessed numerous unprecedented achievements and developments”

Folarin acknowledged that under the monarch’s reign, Ogbomoso witnessed a remarkable transformation in every sphere of life, including making agriculture and education the bedrock of economic development.

Folarin expressed the hope that Ogbomoso and indeed all who mourn the late king will continue to honour his legacy of selfless service and commitment to humanity.

He extended his heartfelt condolences to the entire Soun royal families, the people of Ogbomoso and all Yoruba traditional rulers.

According to the condolence message signed by the three-term senator, Oloye Folarin, on behalf of his family and the people of Oyo Central

He prayed God Almighty to overlook the shortcomings of the late monarch and grant him Aljana Fridauz.

The Soun Of Ogbomoso, Oba Jimoh Oladunni Oyewumi, Ajagungbade III, who was crowned 24 October 1973, died early on Sunday 12 December. He was aged 95.

A Facebook post by LAUTECH News and Information announced the obituary:

“It’s a dismay and a heart filled with shock as we announce the demise of one of the greatest Kings in Nigeria HRM SOUN OGUNMOLA OF OGBOMOSO LAND on this day 12th of December,2021.

“May his soul rest in perfect peace and we pray God comfort the families he left and the whole occupants of Ogbomoso land as a whole

“It’s indeed a great loss in Ogbomoso.”
