Political stakeholders and chieftains of the All Progressives Congress led by Vice Chairman (APC North West), Malam Salihu Lukman, have stressed the urgent need to find a lasting solution to the security issues if Katsina and six other states in the zone hope to regain their sanity.
Lukman made the clarification in a statement signed by APC Zonal Publicity Secretary (North West), Malam Musa Mailafiya Mada after the North West fact-finding tour held in Katsina, on Thursday.
The statement read, “The North West Zonal Leadership of All Progressives Congress under the National Vice Chairman, Malam Salihu Lukman, was in Katsina State on Wednesday met with the party’s stakeholders led by His Excellency Governor Aminu Bello Masari to round up of the fact-finding tour which began in Kebbi State on Monday 4th July 2022.
“The tour which covered all the seven states of the Zone met the party stakeholders and leaders in the ancient city of Katsina the Katsina State capital and discussed numerous issues concerning the party affairs as usually transpired in states already visited.
“Like in Sokoto and Zamfara, security challenges facing the Zone took a center stage where the participants urged for proactive measures to address challenges of insecurity in every part of the country. Noting that the Federal Government has been very responsive to the needs of security agencies in the country, party leaders appeal to all the security services
to live up to the expectations of Nigerians by bringing to an immediate end the menace of insecurity ravaging every part of the country.”
Daura is the country home of the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), in present-day Katsina.
Recall that senators had threatened to remove Buhari from office over the worsening insecurity in the Federal Capital Territory and the country at large.
The disgruntled senators, who are in the opposition, gave the President a six-week ultimatum to address the security crisis or face impeachment proceedings.
The Presidency in a swift reaction in a statement issued by its spokesman, Garba Shehu, described the action of the opposition senators as “babyish”, advising them to put their time to a better use
In recent times, the nation’s capital had been gripped by fear following a coordinated attack by suspected terrorists on the elite Presidential Guards Brigade by gunmen along the Bwari-Kubwa road on Sunday where a captain, lieutenant and six soldiers reportedly lost their lives.
Earlier, unknown gunmen believed to be bandits also opened fire on the advance security team of the President in Katsina state, where Buhari was scheduled to visit for the last Sallah celebration.
Rising from the North West fact-finding tour held in Katsina, the APC vice chair disclosed on Thursday that Masari and stakeholders of the ruling party agreed that there was an urgent need to find a lasting solution to the security issues if the region hopes to regain its sanity
