Niger State Governor Abubakar Sani Bello has called on Nigerians to pray for peaceful environment and see all the security agents as  friends and partners in fight against myriads of security challenges facing the country.

Bello made the call during a courtesy visit by the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt Gen. Faruk Yahaya to Government House Minna.

The Governor explained that as the only country “we have, we have to work together to safeguard it.

“While we pray for peaceful environment, we must also see all the security agents as our friends and partners in this fight, this will not continue forever, it will come to an end one day and we will have a better country for future generations.”

Bello commended the efforts of the 22nd COAS towards restoring peace in the country, while assuring of the preparedness of the State government to support security agencies to keep their morale boosted in the State.

“I am optimistic that the COAS is capable of providing the needed leadership and support towards achieving the desired peace in Niger State and the country, even though, you assumed office at a critical and challenging time for the country”, he told the Army Security Chief.

Earlier, the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Faruk Yahaya, had reiterated the commitment of the Nigerian Army towards improving the security situation in the country.

The COAS disclosed that the Military was already training some of its troops to beef up security and to improve its manpower, while commending Governor Bello for his support and contributions towards ensuring success in the operations of his personnel in the State.

Lt. Gen Yahaya also said, “I am in the State for a conference, and as part of my operational visit to military formations across the country, as well as find a way forward towards winning the fight against insurgency and banditry in the country”.
