Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, of Lagos state, has accepted the State Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Dr. Idris Salako’s resignation.
Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, made this known in a statement on Monday.
The commissioner who has been under serious tension, resigned his appointment following incessant collapse of buildings in the State.
Under him, a 21-storey building in Ikoyi collapsed last year, killing about 50 people, while several others also caved in.
The last was the 7-storey collapsed building on Sunday, killing two people.
Unconfirmed source also alleged that Salako was indicted by the committee set up by the Lagos State Government to look into the reason for the collapse of 21-storey building in Ikoyi last year.
Omotoso,in the statement, said, ”This is a prelude to the restructuring of the Ministry and its agencies.
”Governor Sanwo-Olu thanks the Commissioner for his services to the State and wishes him success in his future endeavours.
”The Governor warns all players in the sector to respect the law or face the consequences of any indiscretion, no matter who the perpetrators are,” he said.
