The gallantry of operatives of the Delta State Police Command and men of the local vigilante group paid off Sunday afternoon as thirteen persons kidnapped earlier in the day along Aniagbala Community near Ubulu-Uku in Aniocha Local Government Area of Delta State were all rescued unhurt.

It was gathered that the victims were kidnapped when their fourteen-seater bus with Registration Number M831FJK was intercepted by a gang of dare devil kidnappers. As at the time of attack, there were sixteen occupants of the bus.

It was learnt that on Sunday April 3, 2022 at about 0840hours, information got to the Delta State Police Command headquarters that a gang of  kidnappers intercepted a fourteen-seater bus with passengers  along Aniagbala Community via Ubulu-uku express road and that thirteen of the passengers had been taken to the bush.

State Commissioner of Police; Ari Muhammed Ali reportedly directed that the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in charge of  Ogwashi-Uku Division should lead men into the bush and ensure that the victims were rescued unhurt and also arrest the suspects.

The DPO, Mohammed Naallah; a Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) swiftly led a combined team of Police operatives and Vigilantes into the bush and gave the hoodlums a hot chase which led to exchange of gun fire. One of the suspects was hit and died on the spot while the other members of the gang escaped with bullet injuries.

Delta Police spokesman, DSP Bright Edafe confirmed the incident and disclosed that all thirteen kidnapped victims were rescued alive and unhurt and One AK47 rifle was recovered.

He added that the bush was still being combed with a view to arresting the other fleeing members of the gang.
