Policemen from Imo State Police Command shot dead four hoodlums who attempted to burn down Izombe Police Station in the State.
It was gathered that some of the hoodlums also escaped with bullet wounds.
SECURITY REPORTERS.com sources in the State said that on Saturday some hoodlums in their numbers launched an offensive on Izombe Police Station but were repelled by some policemen on duty during which four of them were killed by the police who displayed gallantry during the attack.
Confirming the incident, Imo State Police spokesman, SP Bala Elkanah said the State Commissioner of Police has commended the men for their abiding faith in defence of public facilities and urged them to be resilient in this fight, “until enemies of the people are totally defeated.”
Elkanah added that mop up operation is ongoing with a view of arresting other fleeing members of the gang.
