Operatives of the Eagle Net Special Squad, Delta State Police Command have foiled an attempt by a gang of gun men to rob and kidnap one Mr. James Emmanuel at Usiefurun area of Ughelli South Local Government Area.
It was gathered that the gang had abducted Emmanuel with his Toyota Venza Jeep white in colour with Registration Number GBJ 456 FD.
The detectives who had promptly acted based on distress call alerting them of the kidnap at Usiefurun community by Railway Bridge of Ughelli South Government were able to dislodge the hoodlums after a gun battle during which they abandoned the victim and fled into the bush.
Confirming the incident, Delta Police spokesman, DSP Bright Dafe said some of the fleeing gunmen left with bullet injuries.
Meanwhile, the State Police Commissioner, Ari Mohammed Ali has appealed to members of the public to continue supporting the police with credible information that could help in reducing criminality in the State. He promised the confidentiality of the identity of such informers .
In another development, a 50-year-old man, Lucky Okpokpo was arrested with 545 wraps of Indian hemp, 102 wraps of skunk and seven wraps of ready made weeds suspected to be India Hemp.
Edafe said that the suspect has confirmed to the crime while further investigation has continued.
