A team from Delta State Police Command on Thursday cracked a three-man armed robbery gang during a gun battle in Warri headquarters of Warri South Local Government Area.
The Divisional Police Officer (DPO), ‘A’ Divison Warri, CSP T.Y Mahmud, led the Divisional Rapid Response team that engaged the gang while on observation/visibility patrol along Warri/Sapele road by Warri club.
In a statement, the Command’s spokesman DSP Bright Edafe, said during the exchange of gunfire one of the armed robbers sustained serious gunshot while two others escaped with bullet wounds.
According to the statement, the suspect who was seriously injured was rushed to the hospital and later gave up the ghost while receiving treatment.
“The suspect before he died gave his name as Andrew and admitted being a member of the dreaded Imomotimi group, a daredevil gang that has been on the Command’s wanted list. One locally made pistol loaded with a live cartridge, one hundred and thirty thousand naira, one small Nokia phone and Toyota Corolla were recovered,” said the statement.
