Ten persons have been injured in a bloody clash over Zangam burial ground in Naraguta community, Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State.

The  victims were attacked during the violence which involved the Hausa Muslims and the native Anaguta community on Monday evening and lasted till Tuesday morning .

It was learnt that trouble started when the Hausa Muslims were restricting the native Anaguta community from using a road diversion at the burial ground, a development which the natives resisted leading to the clash

An eye witness who confirmed the clashes between the two groups said, “There is a road that the native community usually passed but the road became bad which made them to abandon it and started using a road diversion at the burial ground.

“So the Hausa Muslims who are living in the community started restricting people from using the route diversion but the native community resisted their actions. What followed was that the two communities engaged themselves in a fight on Monday evening and continued the fight on Tuesday

“About ten people were attacked and injured during the violence. And Some of them were taken to the Bingham University Teaching Hospital and are currently receiving treatment”.

The Councillor for Ahwol Ward in the community, Yusuf Ali, who also confirmed the attack on the victims, however, said that nobody was killed during the violence.

According to him, a quick intervention of the security agents saved the situation from further degeneration.

Ali said, “When the violence broke out between the two communities, we tried to talk to them but they did not listen. So we quickly called the security agents and their response saved the day. Although about ten persons were injured but the community is now calm.

“The Chairman of Jos North Local Government has also undertaken to effect repair on the bad road in the community. As am talking with you, the road is being graded so that the people can start using it ”
