Residents of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) are panicking over threats of attack and abduction by terrorists.

It was alleged that some communities in the FCT have received communications from the terrorists of impending attacks.

Residents of Sheda community claimed they were contacted about an attack. Because of this, Federal Government College, Kwali, near Sheda went into panic.

The college authorities contacted the Federal Ministry of Education over the matter and were advised to contact parents to take their children from Sunday.

One resident confirmed before the closure of the school, students heard sporadic gunshots in the community, instilling fear into the students and the Sheda community.

It is also widely rumored that Bingham University has been contacted by the terrorists too. The university is located in Nasarawa State near the nation’s capital.

There was another rumour of an alleged camp of Boko Haram on Karshi hills.

It was alleged that they have hoisted their flag on the hill. Karshi is a satellite town in the municipality.

The speculation threw Federal Technical College, Orozo, near Karshi into a panic.

On the North West flank of the FCT, Bwari is also in fear with security beefed up near the Nigeria Law School, Bwari, Abuja

The FCT Education Secretariat on Monday informed parents and guardians the 2021/2022 academic calendar for FCT Schools will come to an end on Wednesday.

Following the threats, all parents and guardians were advised to convey their wards home in good time from the school premises.

The FCT Universal Basic Education Board (UBEB) also advised all Junior Secondary schools to round off their examinations on Tuesday.

Reacting to the development, the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Josephine Adeh told newsmen that there was no cause for alarm.

Adah said: “We did not issue any statement on this. How can I go and react to what I don’t know? Am I working in the education board? As far as police are concerned, there is no tension and no situation, no panic, we have been doing our job, and we do not know where that one is coming from”.
