To ensure public order management and safety of the electorate during the polls, vehicular movement has been restricted in Kogi, Bayelsa and Imo states from 12:01 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, November 11, 2023.
Police spokesperson, ACP Muyiwa Adejobi, made the announcement at a news conference in Abuja.
“The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, has ordered the restriction of all forms of vehicular movement on roads, waterways, and other forms of transportation from 12:01 am to 6 pm on election day in the affected states.
“The order, which is part of the effort to ensure a safe and conducive environment for the conduct of the election, is aimed at ensuring public order management and the safety of the electorate.”
Adejobi however, noted that essential services such as Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) officials, accredited electoral observers, ambulances responding to medical emergencies, firefighters, and media personnel are exempted from the restriction.
