The Delta State Commissioner of Police, Ari Mohammed Ali has debunked the online news making the round that the Operational Department of the Nigeria Police has ordered the withdrawal of escorts from VIPs in South East and South South geo-political zones in the country.
The Acting Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of Delta Police Command, DSP Edafe Bright, said in a statement that the wireless message from the Operations department was not ambiguous as it cautioned those police operatives saddled with the duty of escorting VIPs to be extra vigilant in order to save their lives and that of the VIPs they protect.
A part of the release signed by the PPRO read this: “The cautionary message was only a step to guide the concerned officers on the need to be extra vigilant and ensure the safety of their lives and that of their principals against the backdrop of killing of Policemen”.
Commissioner Ali has therefore called on the public to ignore such news as it came from mischief makers.
