Major-General Farouk Yahaya, new  Chief of Army Staff

Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari has named Major-General Farouk Yahaya as the new chief of army staff.

Prior to his appointment, Major-General Yahaya was the General Officer Commanding 1 Division of the Nigerian Army and the theatre commander of a military counter-terrorism unit in the North East.

Yahaya, a major general, is replacing the deceased Attahiru Ibrahim with immediate effect.
