The Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero, Sunday, escaped unhurt after his convoy was involved in an accident.
The shocking incident, which was initially reported as an attack on the monarch, was later clarified by the police as an auto crash.
A statement by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, explained that it was actually an accident and not an attack as was initially speculated by some members of the public.
He explained that the monarch’s convoy was coming from Gadar Lado to Dangi Under Pass when it was hit, adding that, “on their way, a Toyota Corolla car had a side collision with the rear escort vehicle of the convoy.”
He said that the injured driver of the Toyota Corolla motor vehicle had been rushed to the Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital Kano for treatment.
Aminu Ado Bayero, who is the 15th Emir of Kano, succeeded Muhammadu Sanusi 11 in controversial circumstances. He was eventually installed in the office some three weeks ago.
