The release of Sunday Adeyemo aka Igboho from detention, is being delayed by the vacation embarked upon by judges in the Benin Republic.
Yoruba Self-Determination Groups, Ilana Omo Oodua has confirmed the development on Tuesday.
The Beninese Court had ordered that Sunday Igboho should be returned to prison custody when he appeared before the court on July 27.
However, spokesperson for the group, Maxwell Adeleye, explained that Igboho’s legal team led by Olusegun Falola has prepared “everything necessary” to guarantee his release.
He said: “The judges are on vacation. They are expected to hear his case after the resumption and he should be freed. There was no vacation judge to hear the case. It is not like Nigeria where you have vacation judges.”
Igboho is currently locked up in the Benin Republic.
Recall that he was on July 20 arrested in Cotonou while trying to travel to Germany.
The Yoruba nation agitator fled Nigeria after he was declared wanted by the Department of State Services, DSS, following the alleged discovery of weapons in his Ibadan residence.
He, however, denied owning the weapons found in his house, stressing that they were planted there.
