A former Minister of State, Education; Olorogun Kenneth Gbagi has urged President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration to declare state of emergency in order to enable the government deal decisively with the menace of insecurity in the country.
He stated this on Sunday during an interactive
programme (Frontline) with the Delta State Online Publishers Forum (DOPF) at Oginibo, Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State.
In his words ” The Nigerian Security Architecture has collapsed ; hence there is the need for an emergency declaration in order to salvage the System”
.
Gbagi noted that there is deception between the government and stakeholders in the nations security apparatus.
Speaking further, the business Mogul stated that Nigeria as it is today is a misnomer in terms of failed security apparatus as he pointed out that the hands of the state governors are tied as the security operatives are solely controlled by the Federal government; at the centre
.
He therefore called on the National Assembly to amend the aspect of the Nigerian Constitution that partains to Security to enable the reorganization of Nigeria’s security apparatus as it would go a long way to solving the insecurity problems.
The former Minister said that insecurity is the bane to national development saying that without adequate security there will be no investors in the country.
He lamented that the country our forefathers left behind is no longer the country we have today while stating categorically that there is need for state of emergency in Nigeria’s security system.
