Irked by the gruesome murder of Dr. Chike Akunyili, husband of the late NAFDAC Director General by gunmen on Tuesday, Igbo youths under the aegis of the Coalition of South East Youth Leaders(COSEYL) has called upon the governors of the South East zone, traditional leaders and other stakeholders to rise and protect Igbo land against incessant political killings.
COSEYL while condemning the incident in a statement by its President General,Goodluck Ibem, described Akunyili’s murder as wicked and extreme madness on political intrigues.
“The recent spark of killings in Anambra State is wickedness in the highest order. This madness must stop forthwith.The assassination of Dr. Akunyili who is not a politician or holding any political office exposes the grand plot by filth columnists to make Anambrians to boycott the gubernatorial election and the conspirators will have all the opportunity to appoint a sole administrator as governor to do their bidding.” Ibem said.
“Ndigbo are not known for killing her own. We are our brothers keeper. The series of killings and destructions in Anambra and Igboland is strange to us and we will not accept this barbaric acts in our land.
“We call on all Communities in Anambra and Igboland in general to immediately mobilize their youths to keep watch and secure their land. Igboland have been infiltrated by dangerous killers demons and we cannot allow them to destroy our God given land.
“We call on the governors of the South East to wake up from their slumber, laise with the youths and traditional rulers in order to secure our land. You don’t play politics with peoples lives. Human life is sacrosanct .
“We call on the security agencies to move into action and arrest the perpetrators of the dastardly acts. Those criminals who killed Akunyili and others must be brought to Justice.” Ibem stated.
