Hoodlums have attacked and burnt down a Police Station as a Patrol vehicle bought for the Police by well meaning individuals was also torched at Ashaka in Ndokwa East Local Government Area of Delta State at the early hours of Sunday.
SECURITY REPORTERS.com sources said the attack was carried out by hoodlums numbering about 20. It was gathered that Improvised Explosive Device (IED) was thrown into the Station which ignited fire that razed the Station.
Describing the attackers as some enemies of the Community and the Police, Delta Police spokesman DSP Bright Edafe pointed out that hoodlums came in shooting sporadically into the air in order to ward off any challenge.’
Edafe further revealed that the police station was built by the community/DESOPADEC.
“it is pertinent to state that no life was lost and no arm was taken away; however, the police will not relent in ensuring that law and order is maintained in any community” the spokesman said in a statement.
The Police Public Relations Officer further noted that unprovoked attacks on the police will not deter the police from providing the needed security in any community in Delta state. The hoodlums who perpetrated this dastardly act will certainly not go free, as serious efforts are on to arrest them and bring them to book.
