A Catholic priest Rev. Fr. Alphonsus Bello has been killed while another priest, Fr. Joe Keke has been adopted by unknown gunmen who stormed the premises of St. Vincent Ferrer Catholic Church, Malumfashi, Katsina State.
SECURITY REPORTERS.com gathered that the gunmen attacked St. Vincent Ferrer’s Church premises beside First Bank in Malumfashi Funtua Road at about 11.30pm on Thursday night.
Bello’s lifeless body was discovered at the back of the Pastoral Center of St. Vincent Catholic Church onFriday morning.
Confirming the incident, the National Social Communications Director, Catholic Secretariat of Nigeria, Padre Mike Umoh, said that last night(Thursday), one of the Parishes of Sokoto Diocese, (where Bishop Mathew Kukah is head), St. Vincent Ferrer Catholic Church, Mahunfashi in Katsina State was attacked by unknown gunmen.
Umoh said, ” Two priests were kidnapped, Fr. Joe Keke the former Parish Priest in his 70s while Fr. Alphonsus Bello is in his 30s.
Umoh further noted ” This morning, the body of Fr Alphonsus Bello was found lifeless in the farmland behind the Catechetical Training School, Malumfashi”.
As at the time of filling this report, the whereabouts of Fr. Joe Keke is still unknown as no contact has been made by his suspected captors.
