The Emir of Gurku, Jibrin Mohammed, and his wife have been abducted in Nasarawa State on Sunday night.
DSP Ramhan Nansel, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Nasarawa Police Command, confirmed to newsmen on Monday that the Emir and his wife were abducted from their palatial residence, a few kilometres from Mararraba’s main town in Karu Local Government Area.
After getting a distress call, Nansel said a combined Police squad, in partnership with vigilante organisations, investigated the surrounding bushes but found no evidence of the abductees.
Efforts to rescue the Emir and his wife are underway, with extra police personnel from the Police Tactical Team, the Anti-Kidnapping Unit, and others from the Karu Police Department assisting.
