Nigerian soldiers have been urged to embrace digital technology in order to tackle the problem of insecurity in the country.
The General Officer Commanding 3 Division, Nigerian Army, Major General Ibrahim Ali and Commander, Operation Safe Haven, made the call during a sensitisation programme organised for the troops in Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State.
In a statement on Thursday titled “Embrace digital technology for improved security – Maj Gen Is Ali”, the Military Information Officer for Operation Safe Haven, Major Ishaku Takwa, quoted the GOC as saying, “the General Officer Commanding 3 Division Nigerian Army/ Commander Operation SAFE HAVEN Maj Gen Ibrahim Ali charged officers to embrace digital technology to improve security in the country.
“The GOC noted that the current security challenges call for the use of technology to overcome them.
“During his presentation, the Resource Person, Mr Atai Akpan who is a digital transformation expert noted that the application would be useful against crimes such as kidnapping, banditry, and other crimes.
“The presentation featured interactive session and practical session, where the use of the application was demonstrated to the officers.”
