A part of the Federal Secretariat housing the offices of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), in Asaba the Delta State capital has been completely burnt down.

According SECURITY REPORTERS.com sources, workers at the Secretariat resumed duty on Tuesday morning to meet the devastating effects of the inferno.

Trending posts had it that the building was set on fire by unknown gunmen, while other sources said it may have been due to an electrical fault.
It was also gathered that the NYSC office on the 2nd floor of the Federal Secretariat was completely razed by fire.

However,  in a swift reaction, the NYSC Delta State Coordinator, Mrs. Olutayo Samuel, disclosed that it was not yet certain to say that the burnt NYSC offices in Federal Secretariat Asaba, was caused by unknown gunmen, adding that the source of fire is still unknown.

Meanwhile, the police have debunked claims that unknown gunmen burnt the building, pointing out that it must have been due to an electrical fault.

Speaking to Security Reporters on Tuesday, the Acting Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, DSP Edafe Bright, said: “The whole place was locked so it is very possible that they put on any of the electrical appliances. There is no access to the place. It was tagged corpers’ section and they are in camp. It is possible that it was caused by an electrical issue.”
