Commissioner of Police in Cross River State, Sikiru Kayode Akande, has
called on traditional rulers, community, youth leaders, religious leaders, not to see these daunting security challenges as a problem of the Police alone.
Akande made the call while disclosing that intelligence sources have confirmed massive infiltration of strange characters and suspected criminals into the state.
According to him, this portends greater danger to the state and country, and therefore, called on all to become very security conscious.
He said his unit discovered an infiltration into the state through the sea, land and air.
The Commissioner lamented the actions of the suspected criminals and hoodlums, warning that his command will make life very uncomfortable.
“I want to state clearly that what we are witnessing different levels of attacks nationwide on security agencies/destruction of facilities, especially the steady infiltration of suspected criminals is very worrisome, barbaric and portends danger to all and sundry,” he said in his office on Diamond Hill, Calabar.
He assured that the force has commenced a major operation to prevent unauthorised people from entering the state.
Akande warned that persons coming into the state must have their data collected to ascertain their free crime status.
“If people come into the state, we will have their data captured, and they may not pose as a security risk to us,” he said.
