The Zamfara State Commissioner of Police, CP Ayuba N. Elkana, has paid an unscheduled visit to Gusau Central Correctional facility to ensure its safety and security in view of the prevailing insecurity challenges in the country.
In a press release on Tuesday, the command’s spokesperson, SP Mohammed Shehu said the Commissioner visited the facility to assess the existing security arrangements with a view to averting any security threats at the Centre.
Shehu said, “The Commissioner of Police while going round the facility assured the Comptroller of the Correctional Service that the Police is fully committed to the security and safety of all correctional centres in the state.
“The Commissioner added that his office is always open to approving any security request regarding correctional facilities.”
The Comptroller of the facility thanked the Commissioner for his proactiveness and enthusiasm to protect correctional facilities against any form of attack by unscrupulous elements.
He assured the commissioner that his office would be keeping in touch with the Police Command in a bid to ensure the security of all the correctional centres in the state.
“I’ll be taking a similar visit to other correctional facilities outside Gusau, the state capital,” concluded the Police spokesperson.
