An Ebute Meta Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos has ordered the remand of  commercial motorcyclist, Sanusi Aliu, for allegedly stabbing a police officer, Mr Wasiu Abogunloko to death with a scissors over the seizure of his bike.

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs F.M. Kayode, ordered that Aliu be remanded at the Ikoyi Correctional Centre pending receipt of legal advice from the office of the State Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP)

The Prosecutor, Insp. Oladele Adebayo, had told the court that the defendant had committed the offences on Jan. 3, at about 11.30 p.m. at Megida Bus stop, Ayobo.

He told the court that the defendant stabbed a police officer, Mr Wasiu Abogunloko, with a scissors which led to his death and had also stabbed a teenager who was receiving treatment.

“The defendant’s bike was seized by the deceased officer and in anger Aliu brought out a scissors which he used to stab him to death.

“While escaping, some people who witnessed the scene tried to grab him amongst who was the teenage, who also got stabbed by Aliu in his bid to escape,” he said.

The offences according to Adebayo contravened Sections 173 and 223 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The defendant, 30, was arraigned on two-count charge of murder and bodily assault.

His plea was, however, not taken.

The case was adjourned until March 15, for legal advice.

In a related development, an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court on Monday, ordered the remand of a 43-year-old Ademola Oladimeji in Kirikiri Correctional Centre for allegedly defiling his three daughters and assaulting their mother.

The Magistrate, A.O. Ajibade, who did not take Oladimeji’s plea, directed the police to send the case file to the state Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for advice.

She adjourned the case until March 2 for DPP’s advice.

The police arraigned Oladimeji, who resides at Fadeyi, Lagos State, on a two-count charge of defilement and assault.

The Prosecution Counsel, DSP Kehinde Ajayi, told the court that Oladimeji committed the offence sometime in 2021, in his residence at Fadeyi.

She said that the mother of the girls had reported that the accused had been defiling their daughters aged nine, seven and five by allegedly inserting his finger into their private part.

She said that when the mother of the girls got to know, she confronted her husband and was angry, leading to the accused beating and inflicting injuries on her body.

The defilement attracts life imprisonment according to the provisions of Section 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2005.

Assault attracts a one-year jail term, according to the provisions of Section 172 of the law.

The Prosecution Counsel, DSP Kehinde Ajayi, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on Dec. 24, 2021 at his residence.

“The defendant put his penis into the mouth of the girl and was caught in the act.

“The case was reported at the police station and the defendant was arrested,” she said.

Ajayi said that the offences committed violated Sections 137 and 261 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The Magistrate, Mrs A.O. Ajibade, who refused to take the Jubril’s plea, ordered that he should be remanded at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre.
