A student of Erhimu Secondary School, Abraka, Delta State, Michael Ogbeife on Thursday sent a staff of the school, Joseph Ossai, to his grave after a fight that broke out between them resulted in the teacher’s death.
The late teacher was in charge of Agricultural Science and Biology in the said school until his demise.
The SS3 student was said to have fought with the teacher after he (Ossai) flogged his younger sister, Promise Ogbeife who was involved in a dispute with her classmate.
According to sources from the school, Michael angrily left the school’s premises after his sister was flogged, returned back and headed straight to the staff room for a fight with the teacher.
Some sources alleged that the suspect went home to get a charm before the fight.
Ossai reportedIy collapsed after punches from the student that left him with a bleeding nose and blood gushing out from his mouth.
He was rushed to a private hospital in the community and then to the government hospital where he was confirmed dead.
Reacting to the incidence, the school’s proprietor, Mr. Erhimu, said he was yet to get the full details on the matter, as he was not around when the ugly incidence happened.
His words: “I was not in school when the incidence happened,” adding that more details will be available from Monday, just as he directed that the school be shut till on Monday.
On the news in town that he may be involved in some suspicious activities resulting in frequent deaths in his school in recent times, he said: “Whatsoever anybody will say about me I don’t care. This is a school I have been running for 35 years. If a tragedy happened like this, I don’t care what they say….that someone will start reading meaning to it.”
“God Almighty that I serve will punish such persons that want to blackmail me except I have a hand in these deaths,” he added.
According to him, he was at the police station on Thursday and today.
When contacted, while confirming the incidence, the police spokesman in the state, DSP Bight Edafe, said that the suspect was on the run.
