…Asks Buhari to intervene

The eight month old strike embarked upon by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) if unresolved, may affect both the general elections and ruling party.
Coordinator of the Awareness Group, otherwise known as Crusade Against Nigeria’s Ills, Bisi Araoye Balogun, who posited this therefore, called on the President Muhammadu Buhari, to intervene as a matter of urgency when all efforts made by his two ministers and others failed.
Balogun said the meeting should involve top government officials, notable traditional rules and statesmen across the six geo-political zones in the country.
He said: “It is a great disservice and a disgrace to the country like ours to render the incoming generation redundant and useless while other countries across the globe are progressing educationally and technologically.
“While the government shares most of the blame, now it is time to expedite action and honour the agreement reached with ASUU.”
The government, according to him, must not equate education with politics, education supersedes politics.
He noted that parents of the students will not fold their hands and watch their children turning to undesirable elements in the society.
It is now needful for the President to take a proactive measure and resolve the issue now, he advised.
