Assailants Kill Popular Radio Presenter in Calabar

A popular radio presenter, Itiat Zion has been butchered to death  by unknown assailants in Calabar, Cross River State Capital.

SECURITY REPORTERS.com gathered that late Itiat Zion was popularly known as the anchor of  major Efik traditional marriages and many other events.

He was reportedly killed close to a popular hotel along the Murtala Mohammed highway on Saturday, November 6.

Zion was said to have been waiting for a vehicle by the roadside on his way home when his killers alighted from a vehicle pounced on him and butchered him to death.

According to an eyewitness, “The boys just came out from a vehicle and butchered him to death”.

Koko Dear, Zion’s colleague who is also Efik MC, attributed the incident to what may be a case of mistaken identity.

Zion, alongside Koko Dear and some others usually anchor an Efik program, “Uwem Ye Ido” on FAD 93.1 FM Calabar.

As at Press time, efforts to get the confirmation of the incident from Cross River State Police Command  Public Relations Officer could not pay off as his telephone was not connecting.
