The Ogun State Amotekun Corps Operatives have nabbed a three- man gang, Sunday Samuel, male,36 years; Anifowose Michael, male, 30 years: and Adeboye  Opeyemi,male, 36 years, who specialize in stealing tricycles in the State.

This was contained   signed by the Ogun State Amotekun Commander, CP  David   Ajiboye Akinremi, psc (+) Rtd., in a statement, said on Thursday 24th February, 2922 at about 0730 hours, a report of theft of a tricycle was received by operatives of the Corps in Ago-Iwoye.

“The said tricycle was parked at the gated resident of the owner only to be stolen overnight of 24th February, 2022.

“On receiving the report, our operatives immediately launched a manhunt for the tricycle and those responsible for the theft. This effort yielded result as the tricycle was traced to a location in Ojota, Lagos where the above three (3) named suspects were arrested with the tricycle.

“The three(3) suspects confessed to the crime as well as other similar theft of tricycles in Ijebu-Igbo, Ijebu-Ode and environs.

According to Akinremi, the suspects were based in Lagos where they also have their receiver but only came to operate in Ijebu-Ode, Ijebu-Igbo axis.

The Commander further revealed that the operatives  also arrested one Otun Ajibola Opemipo, male, 27 years for the offense of  cultism and suspected murder.

 

According to the commander, the Ijebu-Ode Command Amotekun Operatives on 19th February, 2032 while on surveillance patrol in Oyingbo area of Ijebu-Ode, sighted the suspect on a motorcycle, with a cross bag hanging on his neck.

The team decided to search the contents of his bag, and found the following items; (i) thirty (30) wraps of weeds suspected to be Indian hemp, (ii) three (3) charms, (iii) a measurement scale for weighing hard drugs.

During  interrogation, Opemipo confessed being a member of Eiye confraternity.

The suspect also revealed that he was responsible for the killing of one Ibrahim (Hausa by tribe) sometimes in year 2020 in Ijebu-Ode but escaped to Aiyepe to evade arrest by homicide operatives at the State C.I.D. Eleweran.

He has since been handed over to the Police for further investigation into all the crime he is suspected to be involved.

The Corps Commander appreciated the support and cooperation of the good people of the State for timely information which has helped in their modest achievements.

He further solicited their continued support in the Command’s  quest to make Ogun State safe for citizens and residents alike.
