The Ogun State Security Network, also known as Amotekun Corps, arrested two male suspects, Arije Damilola 20 years and Lawal Faruq, 18 years-old at Ago-Iwoye for conspiracy and stealing.

According to the Statement released by  Office of the State Commandant, CP David A. Akinremi psc (rtd.), the  duo, Damilola and Faruq were arrested by the Corps operatives as they were exiting the premises of Government Model School, Ago-Iwoye with some valuable items.

On interrogation, the suspects confessed to have stolen them from the school premises.

“On 19th January, 2022 at about 1700 hours, while Amotekun Operatives were on patrol within Ago-Iwoye Township, getting to a Location close to the Town Hall, through vigilance, the team noticed two young boys exiting the premises of Government Model School with three fans in their hands. The suspects are, Arije Damilola ‘m’ and Lawal Faruq ‘m’ . When questioned on how they came about the items, they immediately confessed to stealing them from the school premises,” the statement read.

However, other accomplices to the crime, one Sunday Nwankwo ‘m’ and Matairu Adams ‘m’ of Maryam Street, Ago-Iwoye are now on the operatives wanted list as they are being trailed.

The statement added that concerted efforts are being made to arrest the apprehended suspects’ accomplices while the receivers will also be arrested and handed over to the police.

The items recovered from the suspects are three ORL giant white ceiling fan,   valued at thirty-six thousand Naira (N36,000), four office chair stands and two galvanized water taps.

However, the suspects and exhibits have been handed over to the police for further investigation.

The statement further revealed that one Adeniyi Adaife ‘m’ 16 years and Seifu Mohammed ‘m’ 21 years residing behind Iya Bono Food Canteen at Onirugba, Ijebu Ode, Ogun State, have also been arrested by the  Corps for carting away some valuable household property of late Mr A.K. Ogunbayo in Ijebu Ode.

Two of the three suspects according to the press statement  were arrested while one escaped.

The Commandant revealed that operatives of his Corps acted on the reliable information given by someone who pleaded anonymity.

Akinremi gave the assurance that the Corps is closing up on the suspect who escaped.

Items recovered from the suspects are: two complete sets of cooking pots valued at Seventy Thousand Naira (N70,000), one 6kg LPG Cylinder, Fifteen thousand Naira (N15,000), 12kg LPG Cylinder worth Twenty-Five Thousand Naira (N25,000).

Other items include a foam mattress, Seventy Thousand Naira (N70,000) and six white plastic chairs bringing the total worth of the items to Three Hundred and Thirty-Five Thousand Naira (N335,000) only.

According to the Commandant, the recovered items and the suspects have been handed over to the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Igbeba, Ijebu-Ode, for further action.

Also in the month of report, operatives of Amotekun in Ogun  have arrested one Qudus, male, 17 years and Ogunbiyi male, for conspiring and stealing a Dell Laptop belonging to Mr Kayode Ogunsanwo of 40 Ajegunle Street, Sagamu.

The item was sold for Thirteen Thousand Naira (N13,000) to Mr Ogunbiyi Tunde, a barber who resides at Ogere.

The Laptop has been recovered while the suspects and the exhibit have also been handed over to the police.

Mr. Akinremi called on members of the public to remain vigilant especially in the hours of 7 in the mornings and 6 in the evenings to avert the nefarious activities of hoodlums.

He assured Ogun residents of Amotekun’s preparedness to provide necessary security measures at all times.
